Class Description:

Introduction to Mindfulness: How to cultivate inner peace and live with greater ease and connection.

This six-week course is designed to introduce you to the principles and practice of mindfulness. Living mindfully in the present moment allows us to live with greater peace, with greater ease, and with greater connection to others and to ourselves.

This course is appropriate for those who are new to mindfulness or for those who are familiar with mindfulness and are seeking to deepen their practice. Each week, we will explore key aspects of insight meditation/mindfulness through a combination of readings, discussion and practice. Emphasis will be placed on simple but powerful techniques that participants can apply in daily life.

Instructor:

Andie has been practicing mindfulness and meditation for 30 years. Andie has completed many courses, including a 200 hr yoga teacher training course and a two-year mindfulness meditation teacher certification program (MMTCP) facilitated by Jack Kornfield, Ph.D. and Tara Brach, Ph.D. Andie is pleased to share her passion, experience, and knowledge with her local community. Andie is also pleased to share her joy, which she can happily say is in great supply in her life

*NB: All are welcome. Before registering, it is important to understand that unresolved psychological issues or trauma history can become triggered with an unsupported mindfulness practice. Many people find mindfulness to be helpful for working through past hurts, but mindfulness is not a replacement for therapy, and therapy is sometimes also necessary. Working with a qualified therapist can be very helpful as a way to get the most out of a mindfulness practice. Many people use therapy and mindfulness meditation in tandem to bring their therapeutic work into their daily lives. If you are interested in participating and are concerned about awakening past hurts, please email admin@ottawaeastcag.ca to have me contact you about your concerns. This way, we can find the best way for you to be well-supported prior to joining the course.
